Welcome to our Schnauzers home away from the Big House. The Hide-a-way is just a few feet from my bedroom window, and play areas are viewable from 3 bedrooms of the main house. As you can see this separate house is a 12X14 Hardy-Plank, insulated, climate controlled building. We have 6 inside sleeping areas all with outside runs. These runs are concrete. The opposite side of the building from the runs is their Play Yard Patio, which is totally open aired but fenced for security when needed.

The guest in the Hide-A-Way varies from week to week and month to month. We do a rotation from which female is in season, and who her mate is to be at that time. When mating starts the couple is moved inside to the big house where all the expecting Mothers, and new Mothers and litters always are. This rotation is done to insure that breeding is done only with whom I choose for female to breed with. Playtime for the big House clan and the Hideaway clan are done at separate times of the day.

Expecting Mothers who have reached 30 days into gestation will be guests of the Big House. Special food, vitamins and treats are prepared daily for these girls. These mothers actually sleep on my king size bed with Dillon and Shadow and me until birthing. At that point, Mother and babies share aAugust 31, 2009 4:27 PMo weeks they are moved to the nursery across the hall. My computer is housed in the nursery. I am able to keep a watchful eye when talking Schnauzers, or working on Schnauzer related items on the web site or contracts, etc. People in the past have been fond of hearing the growing babies playing behind me when I am on the phone with them making shipping date arrangements
